Isn't there a scripture about knowing people by the fruit they bear?

A story of brotherly love.....
by Tatiana insince i've been here, from around july, 2001, i haven't really shared any personal experiences of why i left the society, except for the story about my sister who committed suicide.
this is kind of long, so i will tell it in parts.
if this is god's organization, i will gladly be a devil worshiper.. here goes....... when i was about 27 years old, (around 1984) after my divorce, i'd moved from laurens, south carolina back to andrews, sc, and rented the house beside my grandmother.

Paranoid about death and im only 31????
by master chief indont get me wrong im a really happy guy and live an exciting life but since i was about 20 iv always thought about how frightening the reality of death is it really bugs me ill give you an example im really young now of course and then i might walk passed a graveyard and even look at the stones and then i think that will be me one day.
but i cant imagine being dead i want to live forever and all i want to know is do you think the dead are conscious of nothing or is there life after death.
iv got this idea though see what you make of it, i think that r bodys are just shells and are life is in us and when we die we go to another realm maybe heaven etc i thought of this because angels can supposedly materialize in to human form and viceversa so what do you think people is there really life after death

“Eat, drink, and be marry - for tomorrow we shall die!”
Remember how the JWs would go on and on about how that is a terrible thing to do? No wonder they are so miserable!
Enjoy life to the fullest!

Part 1: Breaking Ground with Crisis of Conscience
by Amazing inpart 1: breaking ground with crisis of conscience .
while attending the district convention at the cow palace in san francisco, the jw man who had brought me into the religion, told me that ray franz had resigned from the governing body, and several were disfellowshipped from bethel in a major cleaning out of apostates.
i was shocked, and asked why ray franz would resign.

Excellent writing!
I remember when I was still a JW. Sometimes I would happen across an "apostate" book at the library. I would instinctively get VERY nervous and shaky - to the point that I could barely look at the book among the others.
I once got up the courage to actually thumb through a book. I remember that I instinctively rejected EVERYTHING in the book - all lies and distortions! I didn't even put a single thought into it - it was all lies and distortions.
It wasn't until after I DAed myself that I started to read material without the self imposed "OrgThink". It took time, but I finally got to the point that I could read things without getting nervous and shaky.
Now here I am… eagerly anticipating the opportunity to meet Ray Franz in person at the Dallas Apostafest!

When your dead, your dead.
Try this... imagine that when you die, you will be cremated and the ashes flushed down a public toilet without ceremony. Note: the toilet may also get stopped up requiring a "Plunger Assist".
If you can handle that, you can handle your mortality. Remember, funerals are for the benefit of the living.

SYN,
Thanks! Their response was the usual threats about questioning the bible. I quickly learned to keep my mouth shut or face punishment.

If Adam Had Not Sinned........
by stevieb1 inone of the ways the wt tries to get you into believing you are not going to heaven even if you d not have faith in christ is by saying that if adam had not sinned we would all be living in a paradise earth.
the publication "reasoning from the scriptures" states on page 162: "it wa not jehovah's original purpose for man someday to die.......death was to be punishment for disobedience, not the doorway to a better life in heaven.
obedience would have ben rewarded by continued life, eternal life, in the paradise that god had given to man.

The bible makes it clear that Adam and Eve were not meant to live forever. In fact, the god intervened to ensure that they did not live forever:
Gen 3:22-23
Then the LORD God said, "See, the man has become like one of us, knowing good and evil; and now, he might reach out his hand and take also from the tree of life, and eat, and live forever" therefore the LORD God sent him forth from the garden of Eden -

For those who grew up a JW . . .
by Trixie indoes it ever surprise you when you see people that you grew up with as a jw and they're still witnesses?
i went to school with a lot of those jw kids my age and i can't believe that they continue to be jws when they are free of their parents.. i want to say," you're an adult with a high school education or a ged!
haven't you figured the scam out?!".

There are some people who accept what is told them. If enough people tell them that the world is flat, they will believe the world is flat. If that same person is told not to listen to "apostate" information saying that the world is not flat, they will not listen to it.
Close your eyes
Cover your ears
And sing "La! La! La! La!" -

In God We Trust - Not Humans
by Delite75 inas the coin says "in god we trust" - i never trusted my kids with menfolk, even relatives.

Always a friendly face and greeting... that is what I do. I leave it to them to go on the offensive.
I started doing this when I realized that it is THEM that have to stay away from me... not the other way around. The org is so arrogant that they think it is our responsibility to avoid them.
